Since 2006 he has been continuing his composition studies with Tapio Tuomela at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland. He has also participated masterclasses and workshops led by Anders Eliasson, Jouni Kaipainen, Magnus Lindberg, Bent Sørensen, Jukka Tiensuu and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Klami's output includes works for orchestra and soloist and orchestra, chamber music, choral works, works for solo instrument as well as electronic music for short films. Klami’s works for orchestra have had success in national composition competitions in Finland. In 2006, sight - energy - vague - ocean, Klami's first work for symphony orchestra, received the shared First Prize in the SävellYS 2006 national composition competition organized by the Helsinki University Symphony Orchestra.
In autumn 2006 the Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) celebrated their 80th anniversary. As a part of their anniversary YLE produced a program series featuring the youngest generation of Finnish contemporary composers. YLE selected eight young composers to be featured and interviewed in the program series, of which Klami was one of them.
Klami's works have been premiered and performed in various concerts and festivals in Finland and abroad, including Ung Nordisk Musik (Young Nordic Music) 2007 (in Reykjavík, Iceland), Musica Nova Helsinki 2007, Avanti! Summer Sounds 2007, Viitasaari Time of Music 2007, 30th Anniversary Festival of the Ears Open Society in 2007, Turku Music Festival 2007, the concert tour of the Italian guitarist Massimo Felici in Finland and Estonia in 2006, Kantakaupungin Kitarakonsertit Festival 2006, National Wind and Brass Music Days 2006, Kemiö Music Festival 2005 and on the concert tour of the Finnish Polytechnic Chamber Orchestra in Finland and Slovakia in 2004-2005. Outside Finland his music has been performed in Estonia, Iceland, Italy and Slovakia. Klami’s works have also been performed on YLE Radio 1, the national radio channel of the Finnish Broadcasting Company.
Klami has received commissions to write works (amongst others) for Chorus Cathedralis Iuniorum, Kemiönsaari Music Guild, Helsinki Guitar Society and guitarist Patrik Kleemola.
Klami is an active member and member of the board of Ears Open Society. Young Finnish composers lead the society and its aim is to promote and get the newest Finnish music heard in public concerts.
