KLAUDIA PASTERNAK (PL) Klaudia Pasternak (*1980) finished two faculties in The Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, composition with professor Stanisław Moryto and conducting with professor Tomasz Bugaj. In 2000 she became a scholarship holder of Polish Department of Culture and took part in the International Composition Workshops organized in Radziejowice (Poland), at which she presented her works and had a chance to meet such personalities as Zbigniew Krauze / composition, Wojciech Michniewski / conducting and Louis Andriessen / composition. In 2001 and 2005 she received “Politic Passports” (main weekly magazine in Poland) prestigious nomination in ‘Music’ category. She won the Highest Honor for “Sancte Angele Dei” in 2002 at the “Waging Peace Through Singing” Composition Contest in Portland, United States. In 2003 she participated in conducting workshops in Austria with maestro Antoni Wit (Warsaw Philharmonic Director) and Baden Sinfonietta. Also in 2003 she lectured at the University of Oregon in Eugene about Polish music and her own achievements as a composer. In 2004 she participated in Schumannfest 2004 organized in Düsseldorf, where she presented “Fantasy on a Theme of Schumann” a work for piano and chamber orchestra. In 2004 she also had premieres: first string quartet “Devil’s elbow” in Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio in Warsaw, and “Seven Faces of…” for piano presented in Lucerne (CH). In 2005 she participated in a master class of composition with Betsy Jolas in Villacroze (FR). There she performed, as a conductor, her own piece ‘Deliratio’ for soprano, baritone, violin, cello and piano. In 2005 her piece “Ave vere” has appeared on CD, published by Acte Prealable. In 2006 she wrote ‘Eleven breaths of…” for alto saxophone. The work premiered at Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University. In 2006 she became a scholarship holder of Polish Department of Culture to create professional records of her works. Her compositions were broadcasted on Hamburg Radio, Polish Radio and Television.
