Ewelina Nowicka ( *1982 Gdansk Poland ), Polish violinist and composer, now based in Hamburg Germany. She graduated with honours in violin and violin related training at Hochschule fur Musik und Theater Hamburg, and she has been perfecting her further violin skills under the eye of Prof. Katrin Scholz at Hochschule für Künste Bremen.

Ewelina has been awarded many prizes at national and international violin competitions. She received prizes from the Radio Hessen Frankfurt a. M., International Violin Competition Goch (Germany), the National Chamber Music Competition Wroclaw, the Elise Meyer Competition Hamburg and the Moderne Solo Streicher Competition Bremen.

At the age of 16 she made her solo debut with several orchestras, i.e. Polis
Baltic Philarmonics, Lvov Orchestra, Polish Chamber Orchestra ‘Amadeus’, Sinfonia Varsovia, National Polish Radio Symphonic Orchestra in Katowice, Jihocecka Komorni Filharmonie at Czech Budziejowice, Hamburger Klassik Philharmonie, Orchesterakademie in Dusseldorf and other similar orchestras.

Ewelina performs famous violin masterpieces by such composers as Mozart, Paganini, Wieniawski, Tschaikowsky, Glasunov, Stravinsky, Saint-Säens and more.

In 2001 she discovered, together with Zygmunt Rychter, a unique set of violin concerts by Ludomir Rozycki and Ignacy Paderewski. She then gave the pre-premiere of these pieces and recorded them with the National Polish Radio Symphonic Orchestra, Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra and Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra.

Also you can experience Ewelina's own compositions during her concerts, where she performs them either as a soloist or with orchestras or/and choirs. In 2008 she received an award for her violin and piano piece 'Kaddish 1944' at Jugend Komponiert Competition; she also won a prize for her music 'Concerto ebraico' and 'Concerto für Amadeo' at Bremer Kompositionspreis 2008. In 2009 she was given a V Prize at Crossover Composition Award in Mannheim, and was offered to have her piece (for two violins) entitled 'Jongleurs' published by Verlag Ries & Erler.

And last but not least Ewelina has arranged and performed a beautiful but unknown concert for violin and chamber orchestra by Luigi Boccherini.

Eija Räisänen
, Finnish soprano (spinto), jugendlich/dramatic, moving towards more dramatic direction, a voice like there was a “Cathy Barberian”. Eija is well known in Finland and is working as a freelancer singer.

Eija graduated from Sibelius-Academy opera department in 2002 and she has also graduated from the Conservatory of Kuopio as a teacher of singing. In 2004 Eija Räisänen was finalist in International Opera Singers Competition (Center for Contemporary Opera) in New York.

Eija wants to cooperate with classical and modern opera institutes and with ensembles performing contemporary music in Europe and worldwide.

Eija has done many opera roles on stage, for exemple: Pamina: Mozart - Zauberflöte, Contessa: Mozart - Le Nozze di Figaro, Suor Genoviefva: Puccini -Suor Angelica, Liisa: Madetoja - Pohjalaisia, Vera: Pylkänen - Varjo and Clarinda: Rossini - La Cenerentola, Leonora: Verdi - Il Trovatore, Amelia: Verdi - Simon Boccanegra, Agathe: Weber - Der Freischütz and Dvorak: Rusalka and Sylva’s Operettaria. In addition she sings arias from Verdi: Desdemona, Mozart: Vitellia and Puccini: Liu (with piano accompaniment).

In the last few years Eija has mainly done contemporary music, including opera roles and performances as a concert soloist and Lied. Eija has performed with many Finnish orchestras, such as Avanti! Chamber Orchestra (conductor Magnus Lindberg), Tampere Filharmonia and Vasa Orchestra. She has been recording three CD’s for Alba Records and one CD for Fuga Music. Many of her concerts have been broadcasted by Finnish radio.

Composer Lauri Kilpiö writes about her: “Eija Räisänen made a great impression to me, when she sang the soprano role in my miniature opera "Beach Balls and Hairy Chests". She is a high-standard professional singer with a strong and cultivated voice, and she made the demanding soprano role in my opera in a briljant and sovereign way. Räisänen’s understanding for the language of modern music is unique, and her lively and spirited interpretation met all my expectations. I also admired Räisänen’s ability to reach the different and quickly changing atmospheres of the music - the same singer performs three different female roles in my opera, and consequently the performer must be able to use an especially large scale of expressions.”

And last but not least Eija studies music in a short notice. She can substitute your leading singer in case of urgency.
